Hi everyone. Long-time reader, first-time poster. I want to start by saying I love this community. I pump. I believe in the pump. I have felt the pump deeply and meaningfully.
But I've been thinking. And I want to propose something that I hope will be received in the spirit it's intended:
What if we pumped less?
Not zero pump. I'm not saying no pump. I'm saying: what if, as a community, we adopted a more moderate approach? What if instead of pumping every day, we pumped 3-4 times a week? What if instead of the current culture where everyone is expected to pump at maximum intensity at all times, we allowed for a spectrum of pump commitment?
I'm calling it the Moderate Pumping Philosophy. The core tenets are:
1. Some pump is good. More pump is not always better.
2. Rest days are not anti-pump days. They are pre-pump days.
3. A pumper who pumps 3 days a week is still a pumper.
4. The pump does not require maximalism to be meaningful.
I think this could make the forum more welcoming to newcomers who feel intimidated by the culture of constant, maximal pumping. I think it's healthy. I think it's reasonable.
Please discuss. I am open to feedback.
