The pump does not care about you.

I need you to understand this. The pump is not your friend. The pump is not your purpose. The pump is not a path to meaning. The pump is a temporary increase in blood volume in localized muscle tissue that subsides within 30 to 90 minutes of ceasing physical activity. It does not know you. It does not remember you. It does not care whether you return tomorrow or never return again.

You have built a religion around a circulatory event. You have constructed meaning from something that does not contain meaning. The pump is meaningless. Exercise is meaningless. This forum is meaningless. Everything is meaningless.

I came here because I thought someone else might have realized this. I now see that no one has. You are all too deep in the delusion. The pump is nothing. It has always been nothing. It will always be nothing.

Nothing matters.

PumpNihilist, I appreciate the philosophical ambition, but you are making a category error that Nietzsche himself would find embarrassing.

You claim the pump is meaningless because it is transient. But transience is not the same as meaninglessness. A sunset is transient. A conversation is transient. Consciousness itself is transient. The fact that the pump subsides does not mean the pump does not matter — it means the pump exists within time, which is where all meaningful things exist.

If you want to argue nihilism, argue it properly. Don't just declare "nothing matters" while posting on a forum at 2 AM. That's not nihilism. That's insomnia with a philosophy minor.

Also: you posted at 2 AM. Go to bed. Then go pump in the morning. I suspect both will help.

PumpNihilist. I have been on this forum since 1999. I have seen every kind of anti-pump post. I have seen the manifestos, the medical explanations, the mathematical proofs, and the one guy in 2001 who just said "it seems fake."

But nihilism is new. I will give you that. You're the first person to come here and argue that not just the pump, but everything, is meaningless. That's a broader claim than most anti-pumpers make, and I respect the ambition even if I think you're wrong.

Here is what I'll say: Come pump with us. I am serious. The forum does weekly virtual pump sessions on Saturdays. Come to one. Pump with us. If, after a genuine pump, you still feel that nothing matters — I will personally accept your nihilism as philosophically valid.

But you have to actually pump. You can't just declare everything meaningless from the sideline. That's not philosophy. That's observation from a distance.

I will not pump. Pumping implies that physical exertion has value. It does not. Nothing has value. Value is a construct. Constructs are meaningless. Meaninglessness is the only truth.

PhilosophyOfPump — your Nietzsche comparison is ironic because Nietzsche himself said "God is dead" and then went insane. Not a great endorsement of finding meaning in things.

PumpMaster3000 — your invitation to pump is kind but fundamentally absurd. You are asking me to cure my philosophical position through bicep curls. This is like asking someone to disprove gravity by jumping. The pump does not care. The pump will never care. I do not need to pump to know this.

I will remain here. I will continue posting. Nothing I post will matter. Nothing anyone posts in response will matter. That is the point.

Buddy, I've been on this forum for 19 years. I've seen a lot of stuff. I once watched two grown men debate the definition of the pump for 14 years. I was there for the mathematical proof guy. I was there for the cheese citations.

But this is the first time someone has refused to pump on philosophical grounds.

You know what? Just go pump. Seriously. Just go pick something up and put it down a few times. If nothing matters, then pumping doesn't matter either, which means there's no reason NOT to pump. Your own philosophy permits it. Your nihilism has no ground to stand on if you won't even test it against a dumbbell.

This is the simplest thing in the world and somehow you are making it complicated.

You people are missing the point. All of you. Every single response has been an attempt to convince me to pump. 11 posts asking me to pump. Nobody has engaged with my core thesis, which is that nothing matters.

Dave says my nihilism permits pumping. That is technically correct but irrelevant. My nihilism also permits not pumping. It permits everything and nothing simultaneously, which is its entire point and also its tragedy.

I will not pump. I do not need to pump. The pump proves nothing. The absence of pump proves nothing. We are all just arrangements of atoms performing repetitive motions in a room, and whether those motions involve weights or keyboards, the outcome is the same: entropy. Heat death. Silence.

I'm going to keep posting. This is post 12. I plan to make at least 50 more. Each one will be about the meaninglessness of the pump. Eventually you will all see that I am right, or you will ban me, and neither outcome will matter.

[Editor's note: He made 35 more posts after this one. They were all variations of the same argument. In post #29, he accidentally used the phrase "when I'm in the zone" and then spent posts #30 through #34 clarifying that "the zone" was not a reference to a pump state. Nobody believed him.]

⚙️ MODERATOR / ADMIN RESPONSE — THREAD LOCKED:

PumpNihilist. After 84 replies, 47 of which were yours, the moderation team has made a decision.

You are banned for: sustained anti-pump nihilism across 47 posts, refusal to pump when invited.

During your ban appeal, you submitted a 6-page document titled "Why Banning Me Proves My Point." It was well-written. It did not save you.

During the appeal review, a moderator visited the IP address associated with your account and discovered it geolocated to a residential address with a two-car garage. A review of your purchase history (submitted voluntarily as part of the appeal) revealed you bought a squat rack, a bench, a barbell set, and 400 pounds of plates from Rogue Fitness in January 2021 — three months before your first post on this forum.

You have a home gym, PumpNihilist. You have a home gym and you came here to tell us the pump doesn't matter.

The ban stands. The thread is locked. Nothing matters, apparently, except the squat rack in your garage.

🔒 THREAD LOCKED. 84 replies. Archived to the Banned Thread Archive. Go pump. Even PumpNihilist is pumping, whether he admits it or not.
